How to play Klondike Solitaire
Open Klondike Solitaire, check the instructions and begin a round. Build four suit foundations from ace to king. Check the relevant rule before repeating a move. Keep the instructions close while learning this activity. Keep the game area visible while you use its controls.
One deck; draw-one or draw-three stock; waste recycling. Free solo play, no wagering.
Notice the feedback
Watch the feedback after an action. A message can explain whether the input was accepted or whether a rule needs attention. Refer to the controls when needed.
Your goal
Build four suit foundations from ace to king. Use the instructions to see which actions move you towards it. Try to explain the aim in your own words.
Step by step
- Build down in alternating colours; kings fill empty columns. Valid ordered runs move together.
- Select a face-up card and then the destination pile or Empty slot.
- Use foundations where available; full Spider or Scorpion runs clear automatically.
- Undo reverses a choice. New deal shuffles again.
Controls
Click or tap cards and piles. Wide tableaus scroll inside the game; use Undo, Hint and New deal where shown. Read a button’s label before selecting it. Avoid pressing the same control repeatedly while a move is being processed.
A useful example
A red 6 fits a black 7, not another red 7. Apply the same reasoning to the position in your own round. Verify the rule before continuing.
Watch out for this
Random deals are not guaranteed solvable. A hint is a legal move, not a winning strategy. Read the feedback to see why an action did not have the expected result. Compare the worked example with your own position. Use the reasoning, not an answer copied from a different board.
